Hi, my name is Mrs. Avery Petersen, the Third Grade teacher at St. Mary’s School.  I grew up in Marathon and am a graduate of St. Mary’s and Marathon High School.  I loved growing up in Marathon because of the small town connection and tight knit community.  It is also close to my large family.  After high school I attended the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree.  After college I started my teaching career as a third grade teacher and since have also been a fourth and fifth grade teacher. I am now teaching here at St. Mary’s where I can be closer to home. I live with my husband, Cole, our daughter Blake, twin sons, Nash and Sawyer, and yellow lab, Jax.  I love spending time with my family and friends, and coaching volleyball for St. Mary’s.  I love being a teacher because I love seeing a student’s face when they understand something or when I can help someone.  Teaching third grade is the most rewarding and fun job!  I am excited to continue this faith journey with all the students, staff and parents here at St. Mary’s School.
