Is there anything truly unique about Saint Mary's Catholic School? As you walk through the school building and see the messages on the bulletin boards or hear the instruction inside the classrooms or smell the home-style cooking from the kitchen, you become aware that the faculty and staff of Saint Mary's care for the students and try to create a partnership with parents in the formation and education of their children. Like most Catholic grade schools, Saint Mary's offers a faith-based curriculum where Christian principles are taught and lived. One truly unique characteristic of Saint Mary's School revolves around the commitment of many parishioners with regard to the school. Time, talent, treasure – we are blessed at Saint Mary's because the larger parish family dedicates a good amount of its time, talent and treasure in order to maintain and support the school. So come visit – see the messages, hear the instruction, and smell the cooking. You most probably will find yourself saying, "Wow, what a fantastic school."

Welcome to St. Mary's School. My name is Joseph Koch, the new Principal at St. Mary’s. Going through the process, talking with Father Joseph, visiting Marathon, attending Mass and then interviewing with the search committee, I felt this would be a great fit for me and I’m glad the search committee felt the same. As means of an introduction, I grew up on a farm two hours southeast of Marathon outside Campbellsport, a town about the size of Marathon. I am a product of Catholic education but went to public universities, UW-Madison for my undergraduate degree and UW- La Crosse for my graduate. I have worked in a lot of different professions and industries: construction, real estate, sales, public relations, travel, computer programmer and project management, but have spent most of my career in Catholic education. I enjoyed my time as a teacher as well as the administrative roles that I performed, which is one reason why I am looking forward to being principal at St. Mary’s. I am also happy to be back in Wisconsin and Packer territory, after spending the last few years in the Twin Cities.

Our school family consisting of students, faculty, staff, parents, and parish members is uniquely dedicated to excellence in education along with the passing of the Catholic faith. As each student grows in mind, body and soul, St. Mary's family is with them every step of the way as they follow the path God created for them.

4K – 8th grade students are welcome to join our school family. Please browse this site to witness all the wonderful things happening at St. Mary's School. Please contact the school office (715-443-3430) to set up a tour or for further information.

Jesus said, "Let the children come to me." He is waiting to meet your children at St. Mary's School.
